Meet The Doctors

R. Wendell Stewart, Jr., D.V.M.

A native of Springfield, Missouri, Dr. Stewart obtained a BA degreee from Drury University and received his Master's in Public Health from the University of Missouri in 1969. He then attended the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine, from which he graduated in 1974, opening his practice in Bolivar, Missouri in June of the same year.

Dr. Stewart is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association. His wife, Darwina, is a registered nurse, ideally suited to assist him with the clinic. They reside in Bolivar with their two dogs, Molly and Brianna, and four cats, Onyx, Rosie, Stormy and Missy.

Lacy Hobbs, D.V.M.

Dr. Lacy Hobbs is the most recent addition to the Animal Care Clinic. Dr. Hobbs is a native of Anderson, MO and now resides in Springfield. She obtained her Bachelor of Animal Science from Missouri State University in 2004.

Dr. Hobbs received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 2008. She is an avid horseman and outdoorsman. When not outdoors, she occupies her time scrapbooking, reading, and being with friends. Her pets include a quarter horse named Georgia.

About Animal Care Clinic and Animal House

Animal Care Clinic was opened in 1974 as a partnership of Dr. R. Wendell Stewart and Dr. Dennis Hood. In 1978, the practice was moved to its current location at 2830 S. Springfield Ave. In 1997, the clinic was named Small Business of the Year by the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce. Animal House, a companion business next door to the clinic, opened in 1984, and offers pet supplies, grooming and boarding.
